Photo 3: Shape : Framing
For a single photo that you liked:
- Where did you find the photo? Flickr.com
- Who is the photographer? John Salinson
- When was the photo taken? July 15, 2006
- What did you like about the photograph? This should be about a paragraph. What I enjoy in this photo is the laid back style of the beach and the surfer fits perfectly in the framing of the wooden poles underneath the dock. I like how there isn't just one specific frame, but there are many with the wooden poles.
- What kind of lighting was used? Natural or artificial, high or low contrast, dramatic or subtle. There is natural lighting in this photograph. There is a little high contrast with the wooden poles next to the ocean. There is mostly low contrast in this photo with the rocks and surfer underneath the dock.
- How did the photographer use composition skills in the photo? Where is the emphasis and how did the photographer create emphasis? The photographer used composition skills in this photo with the contrast of the poles and the ocean. He also used framing with the surfer.
- What do you think the photographer is trying to communicate with this work? How clearly do you think that the message is being communicated? I think the photographer is trying to communicate the beauty and warmth of the surfer by the ocean and the enchanting bliss of wanting to go surfing. I think the message is communicated well because the surfer looks experienced and ready for more surfing.
